"This shark means so much to me..."
When Jeff Fangman felt a tug on his line while fishing off the coast of Camp Pendleton, Calif., all he knew was that he had "something heavy" on the hook.
After battling with the fish for nearly half an hour, Fangman, a former Marine, found out what was on the other end of the line - a juvenile great white shark.

"There's not many people who can say they've touched a great white or let alone caught one on the beach," Fangman told KFMB-TV of the fish he caught in late October, which is now getting attention.
Fangman's wife, Aldrei, was ready to capture footage of whatever her husband reeled in and was stunned.
"She was surprised just as much as I was," Fangman told the news station of the 10-foot female shark.

This video shows several minutes of the struggle Fangman went through and the moment he and his wife realized what was caught (Note: Skip to the 6:45 mark to see the shark):
"This shark means so much to me on several levels," Fangman wrote on the website Sharks in the Sand shortly after landing the creature. "I can't think of the endless amount of amazing feelings I have about landing, handling and being in the presence of this shark."
Watch Fangman talk more about the impressive catch in KSWB-TV's report:
Fangman told KFMB the shark seemed "really calm" during the process.
