Sisters Accused 'Cowardly Senseless Act' of Violence Against Elderly Woman
December 24, 2013
Two Massachusetts sisters appeared in court Monday for allegedly assaulting and robbing an elderly woman.
Lizette Nevarez, 47, and Anna Nevarez, 40, are accused of pushing an 81-year-old woman to the ground last Wednesday, stealing her purse and then using one of the stolen credit cards to go on a shopping spree at Walmart, according to WSBK-TV.
“The victim was given a photo array, but she was so shaken up by the act she didn’t think she’d be able to identify the two suspects,” Hudson Police Chief David Stephens said.

But authorities were eventually able to identify the two sisters as the culprits.
According to police, Lizette and Anna used the stolen credit card from the woman's purse to purchase nearly $1,000 of merchandise — including a flat screen television — at a nearby Walmart, WSBK-TV reported.
Police were able to recover most of the items, but some things have yet to be found.
“I believe she was planning a trip and I believe her airline tickets were in the purse and those were taken. Again, a cowardly senseless act," Stephens said.
According to Stephens, the elderly woman was taken to the hospital but later released and is recovering at home.
