Canadian Store Robbery Foiled After Crook Tried to Rob It in a Very Canadian Fashion
March 05, 2014
It was an old-fashioned Canadian stick-up Monday night.
Police say a man wielding a hockey stick strolled into an Ottawa store and tried to use the makeshift weapon to score the contents of the cash register, according to CBC News.

But things didn't go very well for the man, described as slim and standing at 5 foot 10 inches.
The store owner easily foiled the would-be robber's plans by simply grabbing the hockey stick, police told CBC News.

“If it’s a more serious weapon, then you think about it,” store owner Jim Kargakos told the Ottawa Citizen. “But with a hockey stick, it’s like, get out of here. It’s a hockey stick. What’s he going to do?”
“He’s struggling for his stick, and I just pulled it. And then I told him, ‘The cops are coming, and you’re toast.’ And that was it," the man added.
Authorities are still searching for the suspect.
