Autistic Teen Scores a Prom Date That's Likely to Make Her Peers Jealous

"...my eyes just lit up."

They say prom is a night to remember. It definitely will be for 18-year-old Taylor Kirkwood of Anahuac High School.

She's going to prom with Seattle Seahawks player Christine Michael.

"She can be a little bit shy, but she's a bundle of fun," Kirkwood's mother, Stacie Holmes, told KPRC-TV.

Holmes said she wanted to do something special for her daughter, explaining that the 18-year-old hasn't always had things easy. Not only is she autistic, but Kirkwood had surgery two months ago to treat scoliosis.

So, like any mother would do, she set out to help. It turns out that Holmes' cousin went to the same high school with Michael and, when asked, he agreed to take Kirkwood to prom.

"I was just like we'll see what happens," Holmes recounted to KPRC-TV. "I know he's busy and I wasn't sure if he could."

Now that it's a reality, Kirkwood is ecstatic.

"After my teacher showed me the picture, my eyes just lit up," she said.

The mom and daughter duo are already prepping for the big night, focusing on finding a perfect pink dress for Kirkwood to wear.

The two are even talking about the way the night will end.

"Are you going to kiss him?" Holmes asked her daughter.

"Yes," Kirkwood said, with no hesitation.
