This Video Serves as a Warning for Why You Should Never Try to Beat the Train
April 02, 2014
Houston's metropolitan transit police released surveillance footage to serve as a warning to people who might think they could try to beat an oncoming train.
The light was red and the protective gate meant to keep cars from crossing the train tracks was down. Still, an SUV with four people inside last week tried to squeeze by, and failed.
The commuter train slammed right into the passenger side.
Watch this footage of the accident:
The occupants of the SUV -- two adults and two children -- were taken to the hospital after the March 26 incident and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, KHOU-TV reported.
No one on the train was injured.
The SUV's driver, identified as Raunel Arreola-Moreno, will receive a traffic citation for running the red light and ignoring the gates, according to KHOU.
