Is Michael Bloomberg’s Gun Control Group Using Shady Tactic to Hijack the NRA Convention Hashtag?
April 26, 2014
Coincidence, perhaps.
National Review Online’s Charles C.W. Cooke noticed something peculiar while surfing through the National Rifle Association’s official #NRAAM hashtag on Twitter.
Several newly created accounts have been using the hashtag and tweeting the exact same thing, in the exact same order — and linking to the Everytown for Gun Safety’s website.
This practice, as Cooke explains, is known as spamming.
Everytown for Gun Safety is the new anti-gun group created by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Moms Demand Action. It’s not entirely clear who is behind what looks like an anti-NRA spamming campaign, but fingers are already pointing at Bloomberg’s team.
Cooke grabbed some screenshots of various Twitter accounts in question while covering the NRA convention Saturday:

The link in all of the tweets takes users to an Everytown.org webpage featuring a pro-gun control video that uses shooting victims to make the case against firearms.
