Actor Sean Astin Reveals Lessons He's Learned in Hollywood, What He Knows About a 'Goonies' Sequel

Actor Sean Astin recently told TheBlaze that a sequel to the popular 1985 comedy-adventure "The Goonies" is likely in the works and that Steven Spielberg and director Richard Donner are "very serious about it."

"Steven Spielberg said to me when I was 13 years old that he wanted to make a sequel to 'The Goonies' and that he couldn't wait to find the right story," Astin said. "Dick Donner … has said that he wants to do it. Apparently they're working on a screenplay, apparently they're still very serious about it apparently they're getting close to it."

The actor, whose feature film debut was in "The Goonies," said that he believes the original cast -- himself included -- would likely play a part in the film if they're asked by Spielberg and Donner.

Considering his robust career in Hollywood after his "Goonies" debut, Astin has, in many ways, defied stereotypes.

Unlike some of the other child actors who have made headlines for their financial and personal woes, he went to college and proceeded to find success as a performer later on as well.

Astin told TheBlaze that child actors often face a plethora of emotional and practical issues. From stresses pertaining to fame to financial instability, their problems are often complex.

"I think that there is an awful lot of uncertainty ... awful lot of temptation," Astin said, noting that many young actors fail to plan for the years when they won't have income flowing in.

The actor also said that the media tend to cover negative behavior and attention, while ignoring more positive news about child actors:

Astin also shared some of the lessons he's learned throughout his career, noting that he's been both careful and lucky surrounding mistakes and negative media fallout.
