"Well I, I do not, I have questions about the metadata collection that they were, uh, collecting."
Judging from her fading smile, it appears that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi thought her meeting with a group of teenagers would be an easy photo op with no hard questions.
She was wrong.
"Why do you support the NSA's illegal and ubiquitous data collection?" asked Andrew Demeter, a self-described investigative reporter who runs the TeenTake YouTube channel.
"Well I, I do not, I have questions about the metadata collection that they were, uh, collecting," Pelosi answered.
She went on to say she has fought vigorously for privacy rights and has had "some of my biggest fights" with the NSA director.
Demeter followed up, noting: "You did vote for a bill to continue funding for the NSA, though." Pelosi quickly answered, "Yeah, of course."
