Even the Motorcyclist in This Accident Was Shocked When He Saw the Video of What Happened to Him

"I was literally upside down thinking, 'I can land on my head or my feet.'"

Right-light cameras are in place to catch those trying to speed through intersections at the last minute, but one such camera in Clearwater, Florida, recently recorded a shocking accident that taught a motorcyclist a valuable lesson.

"I learned if it is a yellow light, don't go through it," Michael Smith told WTSP-TV.

Smith, who wasn't wearing a helmet or other protective gear at the time, was going straight through an intersection when a car, which had been waiting to turn left, took its chance. The two collided, sending Smith flying from his bike and into a couple cartwheels over another car in the air.

The video shows Smith skidding to a stop, but he pops up and walks off the street, not seriously injured.

Watch the footage:

WTSP reported that Smith was stunned when he saw it himself.

"Wow, that's crazy, I straight up walked away. Wait, go back!" Smith said viewing the video, according to the news station.

Watch Smith's reaction as he watched the footage of the accident:

"I was literally upside down thinking, 'I can land on my head or my feet,'" Smith said. "I didn't have a helmet on, as you can see."

According to WTSP, the driver of the car received a citation for an improper left turn. Smith too was ticketed for not having a Florida motorcycle license.

Though Smith's totaled motorcycle might be reason enough for him to switch to a car, he told the news station he was all ready to get a new bike, but he'd try to avoid the intersection where the accident occurred.
