Amid Heightened U.S.-Israel Tensions, National Security Adviser Susan Rice Actually Tweeted This

"U.S.-Israel security relationship is..."

National Security Adviser Susan Rice tweeted Thursday night that the U.S.-Israel relationship is stronger than it has ever been, despite heightened tension between the two allied nations following a report that a senior Obama administration official called Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a "chickens**t."

"As I said yesterday, U.S.-Israel security relationship is stronger than it has ever been," Rice tweeted.

Following the tweet, the national security adviser faced immediate backlash, with individuals not appearing to buy the validity of her remark.

An article published in the Atlantic Tuesday escalated tensions between the U.S. and Israel. An unidentified senior Obama administration official was quoted calling Netanyahu a "chickens**t" and another was quoted saying he's a "coward."

Things further escalated Thursday when a left-leaning Israeli publication published a cartoon appearing to show Netanyahu flying a plane into a tower drawn to resemble one of the World Trade Center twin towers.
