"I wonder what's on the other side of the ocean...?"
Heading to the beach? Here's your guide to what lies across the waves.

The map above shows the country you'd hit if you started from a Western Hemisphere beach and shot straight across the ocean.
It's an image that has hit the internet before — the Washington Post posted the map back in May — but it was enjoying renewed popularity in 2015 after being posted to Reddit on Friday.
The map had received more than 4,000 upvotes Saturday morning as commenters noted what it demonstrated about the globe: the impressive length of Japan, how far north Europe really is and the bizarre case of Chile's southern tip, where nothing but more Chile lies to north, south, east and west.
One commenter imagined a conversation between two folks on a Chilean shore:
"Wow, the coast of Chile is awesome, I wonder what's on the other side of the ocean to the West?""Chile."
"What about the East?"
"Chile."
"...Oh."
