Legendary ESPN Anchor Dead at 49

BRISTOL, Conn. (TheBlaze/AP) — Sports broadcasting lost a legend on Sunday morning as Stuart Scott, 49, passed away, ESPN reported.

Scott was known for his lively, spontaneous sports coverage, spitting out such expressions as, "As cool as the other side of the pillow," and, "He must be the bus driver cuz he was takin' him to school."

Of course, there was also Scott's signature "Boo-Yah!"

Stuart had been dealing with recurring bouts of cancer since his diagnosis in 2007, remaining dedicated to his craft even as he underwent chemotherapy, radiation and surgery.

ESPN president John Skipper said Scott was "a true friend and a uniquely inspirational figure" and that his "energetic and unwavering devotion to his family and to his work while fighting the battle of his life left us in awe, and he leaves a void that can never be replaced."

Watch the sports network's tribute to Scott below:

Scott is survived by his parents, O. Ray and Jacqueline Scott; his siblings Stephen Scott, Synthia Kearney and Susan Scott; children Taelor and Sydni; and girlfriend Kristin Spodobalski.
