It was a wild scene Sunday outside the annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee conference in Washington, as pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered to protest Israel — and its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who arrived in the U.S. Sunday ahead of his scheduled speech to Congress.

Far-left group Code Pink help lead the demonstrations, which were punctuated by chants of "Free, free Palestine!" as protesters attempted to enter the Washington Convention Center.

Police appeared to thwart those attempts, tossing and dragging protesters back outside of the lobby. As they did so, the crowd could be heard chanting "We are all Palestinians!" and shouting repeatedly, "Shame! Shame! Shame!"

Tensions are high as Netanyahu is slated to address a joint session of Congress on Tuesday, a speech the Obama administration objected to.

In fact, Obama won't meet Netanyahu during this trip, citing proximity to Israel’s elections later this month, while Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of State John Kerry announced overseas trips after Netanyahu’s visit was disclosed. National Security Adviser Susan Rice last week criticized Netanyahu’s speech plans as “destructive” to U.S.-Israeli relations.
