Donald Trump Announces Presidential Exploratory Committee for 2016

Real estate mogul and TV host Donald Trump is forming a presidential exploratory committee ahead of a possible 2016 bid.

"I am the only one who can make America truly great again!" he said in a statement.

Republican presidential hopefuls are hoping to impress conservative voters at the conference organized by an influential Christian group. The daylong event will be one of many candidate cattle calls in the grueling run-up to the 2016 presidential election. None of the potential contenders appearing Saturday has declared candidacy. Trump has flirted with the notion of a presidential campaign in the past, though Wednesday's announcement marks a more serious turn. The New Hampshire Union Leader reported that Trump is not renewing his NBC contract for his "Apprentice" reality show.

In his statement, he trumpeted his success in business and his own wealth.

"Americans deserve better than what they get from their politicians—who are all talk and no action!" Trump said. "I have built a great company, created thousands of jobs and built a tremendous net worth with some of the finest and most prestigious assets in the world—and very little debt!"

Trump hinted at entering the race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, but bowed out after pursuing the theory that President Barack Obama was not born in the United States.
