Famed Pop Singer Hits Back at Critics Targeting Her Weight With Powerful Message About Her 'Voluptuous’ Body

"Unfortunately, my weight seems much more important to some of you."

Famed pop singer Pink delivered a powerful message to critics who had taken to social media in recent days to make negative comments about her weight, tweeting back that she feels beautiful and is enjoying some "much-deserved time off."

The 35-year-old singer, whose real name is Alecia Beth Moore, has never been shy to speak her mind, which is exactly what she did when she directly responded to critiques of photos that were taken of her at a recent charity event.

"I can see that some of you are concerned about me from your comments about my weight. You're referring to the pictures of me from last night's cancer benefit that I attended to support my dear friend Dr. Maggie DiNome," she wrote in a message posted to her Twitter account on Monday. "[DiNome] was given the Duke Award for her tireless efforts and stellar contributions to the eradication of cancer. But unfortunately, my weight seems much more important to some of you."

Pink went on to say that the dress didn't photograph well, but that she "felt very pretty" anyway. From there, she politely dismissed critics who had taken aim at her appearance, noting that she's enjoying her time off and feels very good about herself.

"In fact, I feel beautiful. So, my good and concerned peoples, please don't worry about me. I'm not worried about me. And I'm not worried about you either," the singer continued. "I am perfectly fine, perfectly happy, and my healthy, voluptuous and crazy strong body is having some much deserved time off. Thanks for your concern."

Pink signed her brief proclamation "love, cheesecake." In a subsequent tweet, she joked that her husband, Carey Hart, says she has "more to love" — and shared a recent conversation she had with her daughter about the same subject.

"Willow said to me the other day whilst grabbing my belly-'mama-why r u so squishy?'" Pink tweeted. "And I said. 'b/cuz I'm happy baby.'"
