Trump Responds to Rand Attack Ad With Statement — the Third, Fourth Paragraphs Are Getting Attention

"Recently, Rand Paul called me..."

Donald Trump issued a lengthy statement Wednesday evening responding to an attack ad put out by Sen. Rand Paul — and paragraphs three and four drew some attention for an entirely different reason.

The statement began with Trump touting his success in the business world and explaining how some of his positions have evolved over the years.

Then things slightly went off course.

In the third and fourth paragraphs, Trump took time to drop politics to simply boast about how he is a better golf player than the Kentucky senator:

Recently, Rand Paul called me and asked me to play golf. I easily beat him on the golf course and will even more easily beat him now, in the world in the politics.

Senator Paul does not mention that after trouncing him in golf I made a significant donation to the eye center with which he is affiliated.

"Trump campaign sent me statement saying he is better than Paul at golf," IJReview reporter Joe Perticone tweeted.

"Donald Trump spends two paragraphs just dumping on Rand Paul's golf game," Business Insider reporter Brett LoGiurato echoed.
