Some of the worst fears from the early days of the Islamic State's emergence may be coming true in Iraq.
A Wall Street Journal report Thursday said that the terror group is suspected to have used chemical weapons against Kurdish forces this week. According to the report, senior U.S. officials believed that a mustard agent was used, injuring an estimated 60 people.
Intelligence experts warned TheBlaze investigative reporters that chemical and biological weapons would be used on the battlefield.
In last September's TheBlaze TV For the Record episode "Total Confrontation," former CIA case officer and field agent Brian Fairchild told FTR: "They have access to chemical munitions and uranium compounds, right? They, they took over the Muthanna chemical weapons complex in Iraq, and they’ve got munitions that have sarin gas, VX gas and mustard gas."
