While participating in a drug addiction and recovery forum Tuesday, Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie was asked a question about Donald Trump — and the New Jersey governor hit back at the reporter and other members of the media.
“We’re sitting here talking about some really important issues of recovery and addiction that are ravaging families across the country, and you all, quite frankly, should be ashamed of yourselves," Christie replied. "All you do is ask about Donald Trump, every place I go.”
Christie added his theory on why Trump has been leading in the polls for so long: "Well, hell man, if you're talking about him 24 hours a day, anybody can do well."
"Whatever Donald Trump has said for the day today is something that, quite frankly, I have no interest in responding to," Christie concluded. "I'm running for president of the United States."
Christie said Monday that Trump’s claim that "thousands" of Muslims in New Jersey celebrated on 9/11 is "factually wrong." In response, Trump said the governor of the Garden State "really needs to be careful about what he says.” The reporter at Tuesday's forum asked Christie about Trump's reply.
In early November, Christie spoke about applying pro-life principles to those who struggle with drug addiction — and the viral video got kudos from Mark Zuckerberg.
