Buck Sexton: President's Gun Control Rhetoric is 'Weak Moral Preening

"This is just all for show."

As President Barack Obama ramps up talks for executive orders on gun control in the wake of Wednesday's shooting in San Bernardino, Calif., Buck Sexton, national security advisor for TheBlaze, told Glenn Beck Thursday that the commander-in-chief's rhetoric is nothing more than "weak moral preening."

"It doesn't matter that laws wouldn't have done anything in this case," Sexton said on The Glenn Beck Program. "As the president says, 'If it could theoretically, in the future, in some way, save even just one life,' then he'll abrogate Second Amendment rights."

The president announced Thursday that his administration will work toward enacting an executive order to close what they refer to as the "gun show loophole," which would enact universal background checks for all potential gun buyers.

The move was first proposed by Obama after the school shooting in Newtown, Conn., but the legislation failed to pass even the Democratic Senate in 2013.

"This is just all for show," Sexton continued. "It's just weak moral preening by the president of the United States."

According to Sexton, the president's comments follows media personalities who were "unhinged" before any information about the suspected shooters was confirmed.

Beck, responding to Sexton's statement on the media's reaction to the California shooting, referenced Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas' social media comment blaming the Republican Party for the attack moments after the news broke.

"Yo GOP, kinda hard to talk about 'keeping people safe' when your peeps are shooting up America," Moulitsas published on Twitter.

"Now there's this whole push for, 'Well, let's not jump to any conclusions about motive,'" Sexton said. "Oh, now we're not jumping to conclusions — when it's jihadist terrorism."

Sexton confirmed to Beck that there is "no doubt in his mind" Wednesday's attack that left at least 14 dead and 21 injured was a terrorist attack.
