Mike Rowe wants you to know he has an alibi for a bank robbery in Medford, Oregon.
It all started when the Medford Police Department posted images of the suspect on Facebook.
Facebook users immediately speculated that the suspect looks like Rowe.
“First off, we appreciate all the tips on the bank robbery from yesterday,” the Medford Police Department wrote on Facebook. “In fact, thanks to you guys, we issued an arrest warrant for Mike Rowe from the TV show, ‘Dirty Jobs.’ Just kidding Mike Rowe! Keep your eye out for the real robber and keep the tips coming.”
Rowe, the host of "Somebody’s Gotta Do It" on CNN, saw the post on Facebook and assured everyone that he hasn’t taken up the dirty job of bank robbery.
Rowe later took to Facebook to assure his followers that his alibi has checked out and that he would like to “see this particular crook brought to justice.”
The Medford Police Department confirmed his alibi and thanked Rowe for being a good sport.
Rowe appeared on Good Morning America to discuss the incident.
“I looked at it and I laughed and I said, ‘Those guys have a great sense of humor,’” Rowe said. “But I can’t deny there is an uncanny resemblance, so I just fired off a quick little missive saying, ‘Hey, for what it’s worth, I’m in Kansas, so be on the lookout for somebody who’s shorter and less attractive.’”
