Massachusetts Police Charge Man for Opening Fire on a Snow Plow

A Massachusetts man accused of opening fire on a plow driver over the weekend faced a judge Monday, WCVB-TV reported.

According to police, Bruce O’Brien, 60, was intoxicated when he fired a gun at the plow operator Saturday in Plymouth during the snow storm.

O’Brien was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a firearm while under the influence, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling and disorderly conduct.

His bail was set at $2,500 cash. O’Brien was also ordered to surrender all of his firearms to police and to stay away and not contact the plow driver.

Police who examined O'Brien said that, though he had alcohol in his system, he was not drunk, according to WCVB-TV. O'Brien claimed that he was firing warning shots at the plow, which was allegedly swerving.

The plow driver was not injured, and police said it did not appear that bullets hit any nearby homes or cars either.

According to an eyewitness, the plow appeared to swerve at O'Brien's car.

O'Brien will return to court Feb. 23.
