Staten Island Woman Charged With Murder After Police Find Her Newborn’s Body in the Trash

Nausheen Rahman was charged with second-degree murder after a medical examiner determined that the baby was born alive prior to being placed in a garbage bag.

A Staten Island woman was charged with murder Sunday after the body of her newborn was found in the trash outside her home the day before.

Nausheen Rahman was charged with second-degree murder after a medical examiner determined that the baby was born alive prior to being placed in a garbage bag.

According to WNBC-TV, Rahman went to Staten Island University Hospital Friday evening seeking medical treatment. According to police, she told staff that she gave birth at home and “she had disposed of it.”

WPIX-TV reports that police went to Rahman’s home and found the newborn baby girl’s body in the garbage shortly before noon on Saturday.

According to the New York Daily News, Rahman admitted that she placed the child in the garbage.

Rahman was initially charged with concealment of a human corpse after police found the newborn’s body.
