Evangelist Franklin Graham issued a strong rebuke of the Obama administration's recent decision to direct public schools to permit transgender students to use the bathroom that corresponds their gender identity, asking whether Obama believes he's "the sultan of Washington."
"Who does President Barack Obama think he is? The sultan of Washington?" Graham wrote on his Facebook page. "Does he think he can just make a 'decree' and we will bow down and simply obey?"
The Christian leader, who is president and CEO of Samaritan's Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, went on to say that he believes that the directive ignores the protection and privacy of other students, likening it to "discrimination" and claiming that the provision "opens up bathrooms to sexual predators and perverts."
Graham also reminded his Facebook followers that the Obama directive does not carry the force of law.
"A decree does not carry the force of law – that's the job of Congress," he continued. "The president obviously must have no fear of God, who made us and created us male and female."
Graham concluded by saying that he hopes to see school districts across America openly defy Obama's efforts to "promote and advance ... the LGBT agenda."
As TheBlaze previously reported, conservative politicians and leaders have had some strong reactions to the Obama administration's move, though White House press secretary Josh Earnest said on Friday that it should be perceived as "guidance" for school leaders and not a threat.
