As monumental rain, and subsequent flooding, wreaks havoc on West Virginia, leaving at least 23 dead, nightmares are becoming realities.
Early Thursday evening, Amanda Carper, of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, posted a video of a home engulfed in fire being swept away by the intense flooding, as she and her family, including her dogs, were stranded in her car at Howard's Creek.
Earlier footage, reported previously by TheBlaze, showed cars rushing down the flooded streets, but an entire home was something all together new.
Carper later took to Facebook to say that she and her family made it safely to a friend's house.
West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin declared a state of emergency in 44 of 54 counties, authorizing up to 500 soldiers to conduct searches and rescues of those trapped by the horrific flooding.
National Guard troops and FEMA officials are also joining the effort to ease the damage as much as possible.
