Donald Trump swept through many midwestern states just after 9 p.m. Tuesday evening, winning North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Arkansas and Wyoming. The Republican presidential nominee was also successful in Texas, Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi.
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton won the states of Rhode Island and New York, where she served as senator for two terms.
With the latest states counted, Trump currently holds the lead over his Democratic opponent. The billionaire businessman currently has 128 Electoral College votes compared to Clinton's 97.
