Vet shot, paralyzed in armed robbery goes Christmas shopping. Who ends up on his list is stunning.

Army veteran Chris Sanna and his girlfriend were walking back to their vehicle after a St. Louis Cardinals game in September 2015 when a black sedan pulled up to them.

The driver emerged and demanded the couple's property, KMOV-TV reported.

"After she gave him her purse, he pulled a gun," Sanna's mother told KMOV. "That's when they turned to run, and he shot at them twice."

A bullet pierced Chris Sanna's liver, spine, and lungs, the station said. While he survived the shooting, it left him paralyzed.

But since last month's 35-year federal prison sentence for his assailant, Kilwa Jones, Sanna managed to extend some eye-opening generosity to perhaps the last people you'd expect him to show kindness to: the family of the man who pleaded guilty to pulling the trigger.

“We're supposed to get together, I got them gift cards and stuff for Christmas," Sanna told KMOV-TV. "We're just trying to get the trial and stuff out of the way.”

Sanna said he realizes what Jones' family will be dealing with.

“They're going to have to go visit him in jail," he told KMOV, "and he probably wishes that night never happened just like I do."

There's a GoFundMe page to assist Sanna.
