Hillary Clinton fired up the Democrat civil war by what she wrote in her new book

Hillary Clinton fired a few shots in the ongoing civil war in the Democratic Party between her adherents and the far left progressive supporters of Bernie Sanders. In excerpts from her new book, "What Happened," she appears to blame Sanders for the rise of President Trump.

Clinton said that Sanders agreed with her on policy issues so he had to resort to "innuendo and impugning my character."

"His attacks caused lasting damage, making it harder to unify progressives in the general election and paving the way for Trump's 'Crooked Hillary' campaign," she said, referring to the "branding" that Trump hit her with through the campaign.

"He certainly shared my horror at the thought of Donald Trump becoming president," she admitted.

"He didn't get into the race to make sure a Democrat won the White House," she added, "he got in to disrupt the Democratic Party."

Clinton said Sanders was "fundamentally wrong about the Democratic Party," even as she admitted he was right that the party didn't focus enough on working class families.

One of the passages cited by Sanders supporters as a slight against him was this conclusion: "I am proud to be a Democrat and I wish Bernie were too."

She also claimed that former President Barack Obama told her to not attack Sanders.

"President Obama urged me to grit my teeth and lay off Bernie as much as I could," Clinton wrote. "I felt like I was in a straitjacket."

The comments from Clinton will only fuel what many have identified as in-fighting in the Democrat Party as some demand that the party move farther left after a devastating loss to Donald Trump.
