Hollywood celebrity Jennifer Lawrence appeared to insult Trump voters while promoting her new movie in a long and somber interview with Channel 4 News. In the latter end of the interview, she blames those who voted for President Trump for climate change and the devastating hurricanes hitting the southern coast of the country.
The report asked Lawrence how she felt that the United States appeared to be in the grip of the “end of days.”
“It’s scary,” she responded, “you know, it’s this new language that’s forming, I don’t even recognize it. It’s uhm, it’s also scary to know, it’s been proven through science, that human activity, that climate change is due to human activity, and we continue to ignore it, and the only voice that we really have is through voting.”
“And we voted, and it was really startling,” she said, “you know you’re watching these hurricanes now, and it’s really hard especially while promoting this movie, not to feel mother nature’s rage and wrath.”
“And it’s not just about climate change in America, is it, it seems to be a time of huge division,” the reporter asked.
“Yeah,” Lawrence answered. “It’s really polarizing and upsetting. I’ve heard things and see things on TV in my own country that devastate me and make me sick. It’s just really confusing.”
“Do you find President Trump confusing?” the reporter asked.
“I don’t find him confusing. I think I know exactly what he is,” she said with a smile.
Lawrence later said that the movie was a response to the times, and quoted a producer on the movie who called it “an impotent howl of rage.”
“It’s like a helpless howl to the moon,” she said. “And it’s an assault.”
Lawrence also blasted the gender wage gap in her pay and her fellow actors’ pay, quoting the controversial statistic that women are paid 20% less than men on average. Conservatives and economists have criticized the veracity of the dubious narrative.
“Mother!” the psychological thriller Lawrence is promoting, hits theaters September 15th.
