Schools across the U.S. are banning backpacks in the weeks after the deadly Parkland, Florida, school shooting.
The number of schools banning backpacks after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting picked up, and it seems like the number is now increasing exponentially.
What are the details?
These are just some of the schools that have banned backpacks — with many of the bans occurring in just the last week:
- A Hazelton, Pennsylvania-area school banned backpacks, and even personal items such as purses, if they were large enough to carry books inside.
- A Caldwell, Idaho, high school banned backpacks in classes, and any such bags must now be stored in lockers.
- An entire school district in Wisconsin banned backpacks after discovering multiple threats against the school.
- A Marion, Indiana, high school banned backpacks in school unless the backpack was completely transparent.
- Schools in Ohio, Florida, and Illinois banned backpacks in February.
- A Granger, Washington, school banned students from bringing either backpacks or purses into the school.
