Hero deputy saves unresponsive baby's life — and the scene was captured on incredible video footage

A Florida deputy was on his way home from work Wednesday when he ended up saving the life of a 3-month-old baby after the child's mother flagged the officer down from the side of the road.

What are the details?

Dashcam video caught the harrowing incident that featured Deputy Jeremie Nix of the Marion County Sheriff's Office, the infant — Kingston – and the infant's mother, Nechole Crowell.

According to WESH-TV, Crowell said that her son fell unresponsive and needed immediate assistance.

She pulled over on the side of the road, where she threw on her hazard lights and flagged down a deputy who turned out to be Nix.

"I just kind of panicked and started crying and I was just like 'Tell me that he is breathing,'" Crowell told WESH.

Nix saw Crowell in distress, and made a U-turn and quickly doubled back to help Crowell and Kingston.

Nix, according to WESH, took "several lifesaving measures" to help revive the child.

Then he took the child to the Ocala Regional Medical Center in his patrol car.

Hospital staff were able to treat Kingston, and according to the station, the child is expected to make a full recovery.

What else?

Crowell told WESH that she's thankful for her new hero.

"I am thanking God and I'm just grateful and so I want the world to know that he is amazing and he's a hero in my book, whether he's a hero in anyone else's or not," Crowell said. "And I am sure when King gets old enough to hear the story he will think he is a hero as well."

Nix told WESH, "I remember praying, thanking God for putting me in the right place, at the right time, for the right reason."

"This was the most emotional day I've ever had in my career. It was also the scariest and the most rewarding," he added, according to CNN.

Crowell later shared a post to Facebook, publicly thanking Nix for his heroism.

She wrote, "Let me just say that yesterday GOD showed me just how real he was. My son KING was barely breathing, & fighting for his life. My sister & I noticed an officer sitting at a red light & we got his attention. With his fast thinking HE & GOD saved my son.... after his shift he and his beautiful wife came to shands just to see him again. His word to me was “Don’t you worry, i will not leave until i help save your son!” “GOD had me in the right place because he knew you needed me... THANK YOU OFFICER JAY NIX FROM THE OCALA SHERIFFS OFFICE K-9 unit !! I just wanted the world to know how great this officer is, & how GREAT GOD is........ not all officers are bad, he’s one of many good guys. KING & I WILL FOREVER APPRECIATE YOU."
