Movie actress Amber Heard is being bashed on social media over a tweet she posted warning illegal aliens about an ICE checkpoint, but the criticism came from the left.
Here's what happened
Heard posted a tweet calling for her neighbors in Hollywood to warn whatever illegal aliens might be in their employ about an Immigration and Customs Enforcement checkpoint.
"Just heard there's an ICE checkpoint in hollywood, a few blocks from where I live," she tweeted. "Everyone better give their housekeepers, nanies and landscapers a ride home tonight..."
But while many on the right might object to her attempt to undermine the enforcement of immigration security, she was also criticized from the left for what some saw as a racist characterization of the role of illegal immigrants in the Southern Californian economy.
She later deleted the tweet after the online furor.
Heard followed the tweet with a message less controversial to her left-wing followers.
"Checkpoints on your home streets....," she tweeted. "Is this the “great” America we’re aiming for? "
"Raids, fences and police-state like checkpoints don’t feel like the ‘land of the free’ our immigrant ancestors built," she added.
Amber appeared to reference the outrage over her tweet in a later post decrying the politicization of the human rights crisis.
With this human rights crisis being so politicized, it is hard to make a simple statement w/out it being used to distract from the real issues. Its hard for everyone to not be negatively affected by this subject n some way. pic.twitter.com/nZ0PrMet4G
