An 8-months-pregnant woman shot to death in Seattle on Tuesday was the victim of a random attack, court documents allege. Her baby died shortly after an emergency delivery the same day.

Documents allege the man suspected of approaching the woman's car at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Lenora Street started shooting into it at random, KOMO-TV reported.

Eina Kwon, 34, was rushed to a hospital, where she died, the station also said, adding that an autopsy found she had been shot four times; among her wounds were shots to her head and chest, KREM-TV reported.

Kwon's baby died shortly after undergoing an emergency delivery, KOMO reported.

A 37-year-old man in the car with Kwon also was shot and hospitalized; he was released Wednesday morning, KOMO said. He is Sung Kwon, KIRO-TV reported, citing court documents. The Kwons were a married couple with a child at home, a KCPQ-TV video report said.

Friends believe the Kwons were on their way to their Aburiya Bento House restaurant in Belltown when they were shot, KOMO reported.

“They were the epitome of everything you wanted the American dream to be about," Kim Ramirez, a friend of the Kwons, told KOMO. "To think that some idiot shot them is unbelievable."

What do we know about the suspect?

Officers quickly located the shooting suspect based on descriptions from witnesses, KCPQ-TV reported, adding that court documents indicate he raised his hands to officers and said, "I did it, I did it." The suspect was identified as 30-year-old Cordell Maurice Goosby, KCPQ added.

The suspect is a convicted felon who recently moved to Seattle from Illinois, KOMO noted, citing court records.

Officers who searched the path the suspect took to flee the shooting scene found a semi-automatic handgun in the 300 block of Lenora Street, KREM said, adding that the gun had been reported stolen.

KOMO added that when police questioned the suspect about the shooting, he told officers he fired because he "saw a gun in the car" — but detectives said that claim contradicts video evidence of the shooting.

A camera pointed at the Fourth Ave and Lenora intersection showed the suspect quickly running up to the driver's side door of the victims' car with his arm extended outward. As the suspect was running up to the vehicle, smoke could be seen either coming from the suspect's handgun or from the glass window being shattered. Video shows the suspect then turning and running away from the vehicle westbound along Lenora Street.

Additional surveillance video recovered from the scene showed the suspect and the victims did not interact before the shooting.

Goosby told officers he as a history of needing mental health care, KCPQ said, citing court documents, and responding detectives noted he appeared to be in some sort of crisis when he was arrested.

The suspect waived his right to appear in court on Wednesday, KREM reported, adding that a judge found probable cause to hold him for first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office expects to file charges on or before Friday, KREM added.
