Florida police track down 'Booty Patrol' truck accused of impersonating law enforcement and Border Patrol

A Florida man was tracked down by police for allegedly impersonating law enforcement with his truck that features the words "Booty Patrol" printed on the vehicle.

The DeSoto County Sheriff's Office notified the public of a white Chevy Silverado accused of impersonating law enforcement. The police asked the public if anyone had been deceitfully pulled over by the "Booty Patrol" truck.

The pickup truck mimicked a Border Patrol vehicle with the words "Booty Patrol" and "National Booty Behavior Protection" written in large green letters on the vehicle. The police accused the driver of having red and blue lights on the dashboard and decals emulating those used by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The DeSoto County Sheriff's Office cited a Florida law that states: "No person shall drive or move or cause to be moved any vehicle or equipment upon any highway within this state with any lamp or device thereon showing or displaying a red or blue light visible from directly in front thereof except for certain vehicles hereinafter provided."

The DeSoto County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook, "On Sunday, October 29, 2023, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office successfully located both the vehicle and the driver involved in the recent incident of a vehicle impersonating law enforcement."

The driver was pulled over by a DeSoto County deputy on Sunday night. He was hit with a fine of $113 for impersonating law enforcement for having red and blue lights on the front of his truck.

The DeSoto County Sheriff's Office noted that officers wanted to "raise awareness" of the "Booty Patrol" truck to ensure that the public could "avoid being duped by such individuals."

The police thanked the public for providing information about the vehicle impersonating a Border Patrol truck.

WBBH-TV identified the driver as 18-year-old Gabriel Luviano of Bradenton.

Luviano said he decided to decorate his truck in that manner because he was "bored" and was inspired by a similar vehicle when he was visiting a state out West. Luviano said he spent $5,000 on upgrading the vehicle.

Luviano explained that he wasn't attempting to impersonate law enforcement.

He said of his attention-getting truck, "It was just to have a little fun, you know? It was never my intent to pull over people or nothing."

Luviano said, "I have videos of cops coming up to me and they just want a picture."

The Florida teenager stated that he never uses the red and blue emergency lights while driving. He said that he only uses the lights while parked on private property or while at car shows.

He added, "Lots of people like it; some people hate it."
