Democratic Rep. says Hillary Clinton shouldn't be investigated because she lost the election
December 28, 2018
Very bizarre reasoning
Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) opined on CNN that Hillary Clinton should not be investigated by Republicans because she lost the election and is not the president.
In the segment on Friday evening with John Berman, Gallego called the report from House Republicans on the FBI handling of Clinton's emails "pure obsession," and then gave his strange reasoning for why she shouldn't be investigated.
"There have been plenty of Republicans and Republicans in leadership that have undermined the Mueller investigation, both by their public statements," Gallego claimed, "as well as running some shoddy investigations."
"If you look at the House Intelligence Committee, and their investigation, it was basically an effort to cover up whatever this presidency did," he added.
Berman pointed out that the document recommended an additional special counsel look into discrepancies they identified in how the FBI treated Hillary Clinton.
"This is just pure obsession," Gallego said, "by you know, these Republicans."
"Hillary Clinton is no longer a presidential candidate," he continued, "uh, the president is Donald Trump. He has clearly done some levels of violation that should be investigated."
"They need to get over it, Hillary Clinton is not your president," Gallego added, "she is not the person that should be investigated."
"The collusion, the crimes that have occurred, have occurred under this administration and it's time to actually look into and see what happened instead of trying to dodge it and distract by throwing something about Hillary Clinton out there.
Berman pointed out that there has been no conclusion so far about collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian officials in the Mueller investigation.
