Florida man arrested after cops find him with drugs, guns, and alligator during traffic stop

Authorities arrested a Florida man during a routine traffic stop after discovering he was armed with two guns, had drugs on his possession and — perhaps oddest of all — was in possession of a live alligator.

What are the details?

The Collier County sheriff's office shared a disturbing Facebook post detailing the traffic stop.

Police said that 31-year-old Michael Marolla was stopped in Naples during the early hours of Friday morning after officers recognized him as having a suspended license.

When police pulled over the vehicle, they said they discovered Marolla — who was driving with two passengers not including the alligator — inside the vehicle with loaded syringes, which later reportedly tested positive for methamphetamines, and two firearms.

In addition to the drugs and weapons, police said they discovered the alligator, which was sitting in an open plastic tub inside the bed of Marolla's truck.

Authorities arrested Marolla and charged him with two counts of carrying a concealed firearm, and he also faces charges for carrying a controlled substance and possession of narcotic equipment.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission stated that it was handling the investigation into the alligator possession.

The sheriff's office Facebook post said, "Did you hear the one about the guns, drugs and gator CCSO deputies found in a truck in Golden Gate Estates today? It ends with the arrest of a 31-year-old Estates man on multiple felonies."

"Deputies found more than they bargained for when they conducted a traffic stop on a black GMC Sierra pickup after they recognized the driver from previous law enforcement encounters as having a suspended license," the post continued. "This happened about 12:30 a.m. near 12th Street Southeast and Golden Gate Boulevard. A live baby alligator in an open plastic tub was located in the bed of the pickup, along with two firearms inside the truck. One firearm was concealed in the glove box and the other was hidden under the front passenger seat."
