Florida man attempted to steal from Walmart during 'Shop with a Cop' Christmas event, cops say: 'Bad idea, Brad'

A Florida man was arrested after he attempted to lift items from Walmart while dozens of cops and other law enforcement personnel were on hand for a kids' Christmas shopping event.

According to a Facebook post from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, earlier this week, a man identified only as "Brad" attempted to pilfer unnamed items from the Walmart in St. Cloud, Florida, about a half-hour south of Orlando.

"Seriously we just can't make this up," the post read in part. "Brad decided to steal from our good neighbors and partners at Walmart in St. Cloud while we were conducting the Shop With a Cop event with the children of our community.

"Bad news, Brad!" the post continued.

Though the post did not explicitly state what Brad allegedly attempted to steal, it did include photographs of various items, which may or may not have been found on Brad's person. The items which appear in the photographs include perfume, gloves, hedge clippers, a syringe, and a bag with an unidentified substance in it.

Brad was likewise photographed with his hands handcuffed behind his back and his pockets turned out. Whether he was ever booked in jail or charged with any crime remains unclear.

Only a brazen thief would attempt a heist during an event like Shop with a Cop. At this time of year, law enforcement agencies around the country conduct such events to help underprivileged kids purchase essential items and gifts for themselves so that they can have a merry Christmas.

At that particular event in St. Cloud, there were approximately 40 officers in the store, as well as "the forensics team, the community services team, the CSOs, the OCSO Majors, and Sheriff Marcos R. Lopez," the post claimed.

"Bad idea, Brad," the post concluded.

The user comments on the post do not disappoint.

One popular response comes in poetic form:

"Brad thought he was Rad !

But Brad got caught being bad !

Now Brad is sad!"

Another poster joked, "Brad set the difficulty to expert mode."

"He’s definitely on the naughty list. Lol," another quipped.
