"Friends" star Mathew Perry died suddenly on Saturday at his Los Angeles home, according to police.

The Los Angeles Police Department said of the sudden death: "We responded to the 1800 block of Blue Sail Rd for a death investigation on a male 4:10 pm this afternoon. He was in his 50s."

TMZ reported, "Law enforcement sources tell us the actor was found Saturday at an L.A.-area home ... where we're told he appears to have drowned."

The entertainment outlet added that Perry drowned to death in a jacuzzi at the home after 4 p.m.

The Los Angeles Times also said Perry drowned in the hot tub at his house.

No official cause of death was provided yet.

Sources said there was no sign of foul play or drugs at the scene of the celebrity death.

Perry was 54.

Perry had been plagued with drug addiction and alcohol abuse.

The "Friends" star opened up about his addiction struggles in his memoir that was published last year.

Perry rose to fame playing fan-favorite Chandler in the hit sitcom "Friends" between 1994 and 2004.

Perry also starred in Hollywood movies such as "Fools Rush In," "The Whole Nine Yards," "Three to Tango," and "The Kid."

However, Perry has not acted in any roles since 2017.
