Mika Brzezinski brags about being the reason MSNBC show ‘Morning Joe’ is such a success

During a recent interview, Mika Brzezinski, "Morning Joe" co-host, said that she can be credited for the MSNBC show's success.

According to Yahoo!, Brzezinski told "Through Her Eyes" — hosted by human rights activist Zainab Salbi — that she initially lit the fire that is "Morning Joe," and kept it going.

Named after her co-host — and husband — Joe Scarborough, Brzezinski explained that her husband came up with the concept of the show, but she made it reality.

"I will just say," she began. "He came up with the show. I'm the reason it's still going. ... I ran the show. I managed it. I booked the show. I did everything from the get-go, and tried to make a space for this incredible voice, and have him modulate that voice and develop who he is today."

Brzezinski explained that she delivered some hard truths to Scarborough, a former Republican congressman from Florida.

"I said, 'Sit down. Stop sucking up to everybody. You don't need to jump up and sweat all over. They're lucky to be on this show. Trust me. You are so good at what you do. I just need to make a space for you in what this world is,'" she recalled. "And that's what I did."

Brzezinksi discussed the criticism she received for speaking up in defense of presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden, when he was accused of inappropriately touching several females with excessive and unwanted affection. Biden apologized for any confusion that he caused his accusers, but insisted that he had done nothing wrong.

Brzezinski defended Biden in April after reports emerged that Biden had been overly affectionate with several women.

"I went on a limb because I know he's a good man, and I know he's not a sexual predator," she explained. "There were so many things missing from the Biden #MeToo story. I mean, we had a certain number of women who made a certain number of accusations that were not actually sexual assault in any way."

In April, Brzezinski said, "I think the next time I see Joe Biden and he doesn't hug me, and give me a kiss and hold my hand while we're talking to you, that's the new Joe Biden, and that's not the Joe Biden I knew."
