A woman drove from Rhode Island to Massachusetts before realizing there was a nearly nude stranger in her backseat

A woman got a shock when she found a mostly nude stranger in the backseat of her car after she had driven from her home in Rhode Island to Massachusetts, police said.

Police in Easton, Massachusetts, said in a Facebook post that they were called to a parking lot by the woman on Monday at about 12:00 a.m.

Police said she told them that she had driven her Chevrolet Tahoe from her home in Providence to the town of Easton and found the mostly nude man in her backseat after she parked in the parking lot.

She had reportedly left her car running while she returned to her home for a short time, and the man was able to sneak into the backseat and pass out without her knowing.

She told police that she had been listening to a podcast and didn't notice anything odd until she arrived at her place of employment, which was about 30 miles away from her home. She said that she didn't know the man and had never seen him before.

Officers found the man sleeping in the backseat and said he was only partially clothed, with a pair of shorts around one leg and a shirt around one arm. With the help of an interpreter investigators identified him as 20-year-old Jose Osorio of Providence.

Police said Osorio had become extremely intoxicated after consuming large quantities of alcohol and marijuana.

The woman told officers that he never threatened her in any way nor had she been injured.

The man was charged with breaking and entering a vehicle at nighttime and had an outstanding warrant from a prior charge of breaking and entering from Cranston, Rhode Island.
