Schumer and Pelosi accuse AG Barr of lying and make a big demand in joint statement on Mueller report

They don't sound too happy

Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) released a joint statement on Thursday accusing U.S. Attorney General William Barr of lying and demanding the Mueller report be delivered without redactions.

"What we've learned today is that Attorney General Barr deliberately distorted significant portions of Special Counsel Mueller's report," the statement read.

"Special Counsel Mueller's report paints a disturbing picture of a president who has been weaving a web of deceit, lies and improper behavior and acting as if the law doesn't apply to him," they continued. "But if you hadn't read the report and listened only to Mr. Barr, you wouldn't have known any of that because Mr. Barr has been so misleading."

The statement goes on to identify four lies the Democratic leaders are accusing Barr of making.

1) Whether the Office of Legal Counseling helped Mueller decide against an indictment on obstruction.

2) Whether the report has evidence of President Donald Trump obstructing justice or not.

3) Whether the president cooperated fully with Mueller's investigation.

4) That Barr omitted members of the Trump administration not reporting attempts by the Russian government to collude with their campaign.

"For these reasons," they concluded, "it is imperative that the rest of the report and the underlying documents be made available be made available to Congress and that Special Counsel Mueller testify before both chambers as soon as possible."

The pair had released a statement earlier in the day with the demand, but added their reasons later.

The Mueller report was released on Thursday with several redactions. Some Democrats, like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), have already called for Trump's impeachment based on what they read in the report.
