Teacher arrested for reported cache of child porn; investigators say he digitally manipulated photos of students in sexually compromising positions

Disturbing

Authorities arrested a Pennsylvania teacher after allegedly finding a cache of child pornography on his computer following several tips.

What did investigators find?

According to a Wednesday report from the Scranton Times-Tribune, authorities arrested 44-year-old Jaime Ryan Chorba of Archbald, Pennsylvania, after allegedly discovering "child pornography, lewd images of the teacher in different rooms of the school, and pictures of students unaware they were being photographed."

Chorba, a Valley View District health and physical education teacher, was charged with nine counts of possession of child pornography, two counts dissemination of child pornography, and two counts of criminal use of a communication facility.

A criminal complaint obtained by the Times-Tribune reported that detectives received three tips related to Chorba's online accounts. Upon investigating the tips, detectives reportedly discovered "thousands of images of child pornography."

It somehow got worse from there

Investigators also reported finding "hundreds of images of Chorba exposing his genitals in the school district's gym, locker room, library, and classrooms" as well as a "Playboy magazine with photo of female high school students taped inside."

"Investigators [also] found images of students' feet taken in classrooms, along with students sitting at their desks," the criminal complaint noted. "The students were unaware of being photographed. ... Chorba is accused of editing some of these images, placing naked shots of himself in sexual positions near them."

What is being said about this?

In a statement, Valley View Superintendent Michael Boccella said that the district is aware of the allegations against Chorba and "took immediate action."

"We have been cooperating with authorities and will continue to do so as needed," Boccella said in a statement, pointing out that Chorba had been indefinitely suspended with pay pending an investigation.

WNEP-TV reported that Chorba has been remanded to the Lackawanna County Jail, where he remains on $500,000 bail.

The investigation is ongoing.
