Terrifying security video shows 3 armed suspects ambushing Dallas man and his stepson in their driveway

Surveillance video captured 15 seconds of terror as three armed suspects tried to rob a man in his driveway after he had returned from a bank.

Mark Gardner told WFAA-TV that he was thankful to be alive after the ordeal on Tuesday.

He said that he and his stepson had returned from the bank at about 1 p.m. when a large vehicle boxed his car in at his driveway and three assailants ran out with guns.

"I said, 'Call your mother right away and tell her to go hide in the house. I'm calling the police,'" Gardner recalled.

The video shows the three males pulling on the door handles and trying to break the windows of the car.

"This is where they took the butt of the gun and kept pounding it," he said.

After a few seconds, Gardner sped away from the scene, and the assailants got into their vehicle. Neither Gardner nor his stepson were injured in the ambush, but they were very shaken up.

Gardner said that he had pulled in backwards into the driveway because he had been suspicious of the vehicle following him from the bank.

He went on to say that he hoped the suspects would change their lives. He also wanted someone to turn them in to the police if they were able to identify them.

"Maybe they think they're invincible. But if they think they're that tough, wait till they get to prison," he added.

Police have warned that they are seeing more incidents in which robbers follow people from the bank and attack them in order to steal any large withdrawals they might have made. These are called "jugging" incidents.

In one horrifying "jugging" incident from March, security video captured an assailant body-slamming a young mom and causing a traumatic injury to her neck and spine. Her children said she was the main breadwinner and they weren't sure how to pay for rent or food after she was paralyzed.
