'Whiny snowflakes': Billionaire Ken Griffin rips Harvard students, says he stopped donating to school over its woke values

Billionaire Ken Griffin — who has given more than $500 million to Harvard University — called its students "whiny snowflakes" and said he stopped donating to the Ivy League school over its woke values.

Griffin, founder and CEO of hedge fund Citadel, told a Miami conference crowd Tuesday that he believes Harvard is "lost in the wilderness," CBS News reported.

"Are we going to educate the future members of the House and Senate and the leaders of IBM? Or are we going to educate a group of young men and women who are caught up in a rhetoric of oppressor and oppressee and, 'This is not fair,' and just frankly whiny snowflakes?" Griffin said at the Managed Funds Association gathering, according to the news network. "Where are we going with elite education in schools in America?"

CBS News, citing the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, said Griffin is worth almost $37 billion and is the 35th-richest person in the world.

Harvard didn't immediately return a request for comment, the news network added.

It was the latest batch of bad news for the elite institution in recent months. Things turned sour after multiple Harvard student organizations said Israel was "entirely at fault" for the deadly Hamas surprise attack the Jewish nation endured on Oct. 7. That appeared to trigger a downward spiral:

• Days later the Wexner Foundation cut ties with Harvard, accusing the school of failing to condemn the Hamas terrorist attack against Israel.
• About a month after the terror attack, then-Harvard President Claudine Gay finally condemned the popular leftist protest chant "from the river to the sea," which essentially calls for the elimination of Israel.
• In early December, billionaire Bill Ackman — a Harvard graduate — ripped Gay for a spike in anti-Semitism on campus.
• Days later Gay waffled when U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-New York) asked her during a congressional hearing on anti-Semitism if calls on campus for the genocide of Jews violate school policy. Gay's reaction angered Harvard Hillel, a Jewish group at the Ivy League college.
• In mid-December it was reported that Harvard excluded Jews in identity-based graduations.
• By early January, Gay finally resigned in the wake of her mounting plagiarism scandal; she nevertheless called herself a victim of "racial animus."
• Days later Ackman slammed his alma mater over the school's "fundamentally flawed and racist ideology" of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Apparently undeterred, it was reported this month that pro-Palestinian faculty and staff at Harvard formed a group that criticized the "unfolding genocide in Gaza."
• Also in January, the school — still smarting from the Gay resignation — endured another hit when four senior research scientists with faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School were accused of manipulating data in some of their published research.
• If that weren't enough, a Monday complaint filed with Harvard suggests the school's chief diversity and inclusion officer also may have plagiarized some of her academic work.
