Uyghurs in grave danger: Atrocities in the East

There are over 2 million Ughur Muslims in China, and their culture and their lives are in danger.

Mark Levin believes the issue isn’t getting enough attention.

“They’re trying to wipe out this ethnic group,” he warns.

“They want to wipe out the Uyghur Muslims because they’re faithful people. And so what they’re doing is they’re murdering them. They’re raping them. They’re torturing them. They are enslaving them. Two million people.”

According to a huge cache of data hacked from Chinese police computer servers, there is now mounting and unignorable evidence of these atrocities.

The BBC reports that the almost 3,000 photos “show the reality of how whole swathes of Uyghur society have been swept up, person by person.”

Due to the rise in pressure the Chinese government is now under to answer questions about the Uyghur situation, they’ve been taking journalists on tours of the “camps” the Uyghurs have been placed in.

Apparently, the journalists have been seeing “Uyghurs celebrating their culture” while “being guided away from extremism.”

One journalist claims that the images he has seen of the camps caused him to “go somewhere else and take a break,” because he was so “overwhelmed.”

One Uyghur reportedly was sentenced to 16 years in jail for growing a beard.

In response, the Chinese Embassy in the U.S. issued a statement saying that “in the face of the grave and complex counter-terrorism situation in Xinjiang, the authorities had taken a host of decisive, robust and effective de-radicalization measures so that people could live a safe, happy and fulfilling life.”

They did not address any of the hacked data directly.

Levin believes this is extremely worrisome.

“You have this ethnic cleansing going on, and when you see what China’s doing, when you see how China’s behaving internationally, how it’s building up its military, how it is acquiring bases all over the world, and so forth.”

He says our reaction as a country is simply “watching” and “hoping for the best.”
