Jake Tapper confronts Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand about her past stance on immigration
On this episode of "The Steve Deace Show," host Steve Deace discussed New York Democratic Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand's interview with CNN host Jake Tapper, who pressed the lawmaker on her past positions on illegal immigration and border security.
"You said Trump's' position on immigration is racist," Tapper said. "Now as you know, you were more conservative early on in your career on immigration."
Tapper laid out Gillibrand's past views about amnesty and her position that English should be the official language in the U.S.
Tapper explained that Gillibrand's past views line up with President Donald Trump; however, she has recently said that Trump's views make him racist. Tapper asked Gillibrand if her previous stance on immigration meant that she used to be racist?
Deace noted that Gillibrand deflected the question, and he added that the sickness on display in this interview is that there is "no redemption in the progressive movement unless you join their cult." He added that "cults make morons of us all."
