Attorney for cake shop in upcoming SCOTUS case speaks out

The case of Masterpiece Cakeshop versus Colorado Civil Rights Commission will be decided by the Supreme Court this fall. The ruling could impact other religious expression cases in as many as 22 states.

David Mullins and Charlie Craig asked Jack Phillips, owner of the shop, to bake a cake for their wedding. When he said no they reported him as being in violation of the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act.

Phillips’s lawyer David Cortman joined Dana Loesch on today’s “Dana.” He confirmed that Phillips has gladly served gay and lesbian customers, but anyone being forced to promote an event such as a same-sex marriage “violates … their rights of conscience” in any context.
