Hillary Clinton says '41 percent of Democrats' identifying as socialists hurt her in 2016

What's going on?

Hillary Clinton is still making headlines by talking about the 2016 election. In an interview this week, she said that socialist Democrat voters may have been a factor in her loss.

What did she say?

“It’s hard to know, but I mean if you’re in the Iowa caucuses and 41 percent of Democrats are socialists or self-described socialists, and I’m asked ‘Are you a capitalist?’ and I say, ‘Yes, but with appropriate regulation and appropriate accountability.’ You know, that probably gets lost in the ‘Oh my gosh, she’s a capitalist!’ ” Clinton told Fortune president Alan Murray while speaking Wednesday at the Shared Value Leadership Summit.

Glenn's take:

How far we've come. After years of conservatives being mocked for fearing the rise of socialism, nearly half of Democrats openly call themselves socialists.

"What an admission," Glenn said on today's show in response to the "41 percent" statistic.
