The swastika was widely-used as a positive symbol for centuries before Hitler's rise

Glenn Beck delves into the history of the swastika, explaining how the symbol was considered a positive image for centuries before Hitler got his hands on it. For example, swastikas adorn the lampposts surrounding the U.S. Mint in San Francisco, which was built in the late 19th century. Glenn points out the similarities between the Nazis' adoption of the swastika and the symbolism of the modern fascist regimes in Russia and the Middle East.

"So when Adolf Hitler began to use it, people didn't react to that symbol as we now react to the swastika today," Glenn remarks. "It was the use of propaganda, and it was one reason the world failed to recognize the true nature of Hitler's fascism."
