Watch: Florida congresswoman sentenced to 5 years in prison for scamming donors

They thought they were giving their money to charity.

Former Rep. Corrine Brown (D-Fl.) has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for raising around $800,000 for a sham nonprofit as well as other fraud and tax crimes. One Door for Education donors said that Brown approached them for funding, saying the money would go to needy kids. Instead, Brown reportedly spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on a lavish lifestyle.
