Bombshell texts reveal senior FBI official pledged to stop Trump from becoming president

Conservative Review

New texts between two former senior FBI officials appear to reveal that there was a plan in place to stop Donald Trump from being elected president.

As part of the inspector general (IG) investigation into the the FBI’s handling of the 2016 election, the Justice Department has found that Peter Strzok, the former chief of the FBI’s counterespionage unit, promised to stop Trump from winning the election.

Jennifer Jacobs of Bloomberg News reports:

Strzok was replying to texts from his mistress and fellow FBI agent Lisa Page, who was a subordinate to fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe. Page has since quit the FBI.

DOJ inspector general Michael Horowitz is expected to release his full report at around 3:00 p.m. today. This investigation is specifically related to the Clinton email investigation. Although the aforementioned text appears to have been released in tandem with the IG report, the investigation did not scrutinize whether members of the FBI attempted to secure the election for Hillary Clinton.

Some segments of the IG report have been leaked to the press. Bloomberg reported on some of the report's conclusions, which slam former FBI director James Comey for incompetence.
